Q: Which shortcuts work in every editor?

Four: Ctrl + S to save, Ctrl + Z to undo, and Ctrl + Shift + Z or Ctrl + Y to redo. They work in the PDF, document, spreadsheet and presentation editors alike.

The PDF editor has the fullest set of shortcuts. On a Mac, use ⌘ wherever Ctrl is listed.

PDF editor — tools

Press a single letter to switch tool. These work when the cursor is not inside a text field.

`V`	Select.
`T`	Add text box.
`H`	Highlight.
`U`	Underline.
`K`	Strikethrough.
`P`	Draw (pen).
`E`	Eraser.
`S`	Shapes.
`I`	Add image — also opens the file picker.
`N`	Sticky note.
`C`	Add checkbox.
`D`	Add today's date.

`+ / =`	Zoom in.
`− / _`	Zoom out.
`0`	Fit to width.
`Page Down`	Next page.
`Page Up`	Previous page.

PDF editor — working with a selection

Shortcut	Action
`Arrow keys`	Nudge the selected annotation by one step.
`Shift + arrow keys`	Nudge it by ten steps.
`Delete / Backspace`	Delete the selected annotation.
`Esc`	Deselect, close an open menu, or return to the Select tool.

Document editor

Shortcut	Action
`Ctrl + B`	Bold.
`Ctrl + I`	Italic.
`Ctrl + U`	Underline.

Why is a single letter not switching tools?

The single-letter shortcuts belong to the PDF editor, and they only fire when the cursor is not inside a text field. If you are typing in a text box, press Esc first to deselect and return to the Select tool, then press the letter.
